Here is a short guide to properly setting up an Android tablet, both new and factory reset. Make sure you have a working Wi-Fi network and its password.
Note that manufacturers who install the Android operating system on their tablets may make some changes to the installation process and use of the software.
But overall, the setup steps differ slightly from those shown here.
At the first start, the configuration procedure is launched and a welcome window appears where you can choose the system language. Once done, tap Start.
Then comes the connection to your Wi-Fi network, find it among the networks detected by the tablet, select it and type your password. If your tablet is a 4G or 5G cellular model with a SIM card, you can use this connection as long as your internet data plan is good enough to download any updates.
The next step is to transfer applications and data from another tablet or phone, if this is the case, and follow the instructions. Don’t copy them if you want a completely empty tablet.

Google account or not?
There is the famous question of whether or not you have a Google account, which allows you to install and purchase applications and games from the Google Play Store. Without this account, the use of the tablet becomes very limited.
If you create a new account, all ad tracking features will be enabled by default. I recommend computer to open a new Google account on your favorite browser and review the activities to be disabled. More information at the end of this text.
Once your Google account is set to your preferences, continue configuring your tablet’s Android software by entering your Google ID and password.
Next, enable or disable the additional Google account services, such as Google Drive online data storage, etc. Then tap OK.
Then comes the choice whether or not to activate the Google Assistant for your searches or dictated questions, using the voice command Hey Google. Replace if you’d rather set it up later or never.
Security and unlocking
You will be presented with various options to protect your tablet’s access; password, PIN code, screen pattern, fingerprint or facial recognition. The latter two methods are the safest, a choice you can change at any time once the setup is complete.

Future Pixel tablets made by Google in 2023?
The tablet market has always been more successful for third-party manufacturers, with the exception of Google, which withdrew its Pixel Slate and Pixel C tablets from the market a few years ago.
But, according to various specialized sites, the Internet advertising giant could return with a Pixel tablet equipped with the Tensor chip as early as next year. This would work on Android 13 and complement the hardware offering of Pixel smartphones and brand new Pixel Watch watches.
