4 gold medals for Algeria-Video

This Sunday Algeria got off to a good start at the Oran 2022 Mediterranean Games, with a harvest of five medals.

After the grand opening ceremony on Saturday evening, Sunday 26 June is time for competitions in the various disciplines.

In football, the Algerian selection caused a sensation by beating Spain (1-0) at Sid (Mascara) in a packed stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Mehdi Puch in the 35th minute with an unstoppable shot from outside the box.

Algerians or rather Algerian women distinguished themselves very beautifully in another discipline: karate. This Sunday three gold medals and another silver medal were won by Algerian karateka.

The medal table was opened by Sylia Ouikene who won JM Oran’s first gold medal. You beat Egypt’s Reem Salama in the final of the under 50 kg category (5-0).

Also in karate, the second gold medal of Algeria was won by Louiza Abbouriche, (-55 kg). In the final you beat another Egyptian, Ahlam Youssef (4-1), in the final.

To get there, Abbouriche expelled the Croatian Alexndra Hasni in the round of 16, the Italian Vinorika Broni in the quarterfinals and the Kosovar Albion Garila in the semifinals.

The third Algerian gold medal in this discipline was won by Chaima Midi, (- 61 kg). You dominated the Tunisian Wafa Mahdjoub (3-2) in the final, again this Sunday.

Also in karate, Algeria won the fourth gold medal on Sunday, thanks to Oussama Ziyad (-75 kg) who beat the Egyptian Abdelaziz Abdalla (5-4) in the final.

Silver medal, finally, to the Algerian karateka Alaa Selmi (-60 kg), after the defeat in the final against the Turkish Eray Samdan (0-5).

With five medals, four of which gold, Algeria occupies the first place in the ranking of the first day, ahead of Italy (five medals, of which only one gold) and Turkey (5 medals, of which one gold) .
