I am very happy to have Maude at my house, especially when I think our meeting has almost been canceled! The actress’s work schedule is very full. She comes in, she all smiles, she looks at herself everywhere, she hugs me and tells me very sweetly: “I’m happy to be here. It’ll do me good to get some rest. Let’s say she’s going fast these days. ”

My mother, who herself has worked in the world of TV and cinema, comes to visit me at home and comes to greet her. They realize they have mutual friends and remember fond memories. Mom leaves and now it’s time to renew the photos. I see Maude looking at my house. “I just bought a new house with my boyfriend. I’ll have some questions for you, Saskia. “She laughs! It was in the Laurentians that she and her lover fell in love with a house in the clouds.” Do you remember, Saskia, our last interview together? It was January 2020 and we had just bought a duplex in Montreal. We decided to sell and move to the countryside. We fell in love with our new home. We knew immediately it was for us! ”

TAKE THE FLIGHT
Since we last met, a lot has happened in his life. The children have left the family nest, a stage full of emotions for their mothers. “In Montreal, we had the duplex and each had our own apartment so that our children, Christian and I, could each have their own space while still being close to each other. There was a pandemic and we had a lot of fun together. Then, when we returned to normal, my son, Edmond, and his girlfriend, Isabelle, who also lived with us, told me they wanted to find a place of their own. She shook me a little bit, but I’m happy for them. I love Isabella! They are a beautiful young couple. They inspire me a lot. Christian’s son also decided to fly alone. This is where our project for a country house took shape, and we found our corner of paradise, not too far from Montreal, of course, to be close to our children. Maude, having left the family nest herself early, understands the desire for autonomy of her son, who will turn 20 in September. They miss closeness a lot, but they are so close that the transition is fluid. “We have a real connection and a great relationship. I have a lot of posting work to do, sometimes it’s hard. At the same time, I understand it. I too left my home very young, at 17. I lived in La Tuque. There was nothing to do there then. I have lived with my mother since my father left when I was 13. My mother was so sick! She wasn’t there for my sister and me. I was 14-15 when I said to myself: “I have to leave”. My mother was a housewife, out of work. So when my dad left, she broke down. She consumed valium, alcohol … she Had become unbearable. She often spoke ill of my father, and this is not good. You don’t have to. I say this because she can help people who have experienced something similar.

I missed the mother figure. Mom is now in a CHSLD. You have dementia. I go to see her and I realize that, unfortunately, I don’t have many ties with her. So you understand that my sweet and healthy relationship with Edmond is very, very precious.

ANCHORAGE IN THE PRESENT
He continues talking about the strength of young people, their way of facing life, their desire to return to earth, to simply feel good, without frills. In a world where consumption has few limits, it finds great comfort in this way of being. “Life is so expensive and our planet is not doing very well. The temperature, the intense climate change, the wars, the problems of society … We are lucky here, but we go straight against the wall. Our children will have to get their hands dirty. I know we can’t control everything, regulate everything, organize everything. But we should all change our lifestyle. A step at a time. When Edmond told me that he and his girlfriend wanted to find a cottage in the country, have a garden, chickens and everything needed to be self-reliant, I thought it was great. I like this way of being. It is certainly a very good road for the future. Do you find it inspiring, Saskia? “Yes indeed! I also like this down-to-earth side of our young people, with their old souls and inspiring beliefs. Speaking of youth, my son rushes through the living room and announces the death of Olivia Newton-John. We both exclaim: “What ?! Well no! “We start humming his songs, as if a piece of our youth had just flown away!” Ah! It affects everything. Getting older is also about seeing the people you love leave. You really have to take advantage of it. Maybe it slows down, I don’t know … But it makes you think! ” Maybe find the right balance between enjoying it and stopping … she Lives in all of us. And on the other hand, the very talented 57-year-old actress has a thriving career. “I feel very privileged: I do the job I have chosen, which I love, which nourishes me and makes me grow every day. Sometimes I take breaks, then I miss it. I like to work, I love what I do in life. Like many artists of my generation, I feel more like an artisan. I come from the world of theater, like so many other women, and over the years, like worker ants, we have made our way. Not to be known or to be stars, but to play, to serve our art. People have this popular belief that being an actor pays off. But when you act in the theater, you spend a lot of energy, time and pleasure, and you don’t pay for it. You do it for the sake of this profession. I have the opportunity and the great happiness of doing theater and television, I am fulfilled.

IT’S BRIGHT EVERY DAY
He who embodies the captivating Marie-Luce in 5th degree and those who are shooting for the fifth season love to play this maternal and authentic character, qualities that suit her perfectly. “Oh! You are cute! Obviously I am maternal towards my son, my boyfriend’s and all the young people around me in my profession. I create frank and sincere connections. I like being surrounded by young actors, I find it wonderful to see them leave. I also like see female filmmakers, such as Jeanne Leblanc, Annie Saint-Pierre, Chloé Robichaud and Myriam Verreault. After the #MeToo affair, a natural cleansing took place, and the doors opened to them. They open many in turn, and this is nice. And all the team members 5th degree form a large family. I love them so much! I hope this project will last a long time. I don’t want it to end. “I look at her and listen to her with enthusiasm. What a fabulous woman! Behind the calm and kindness, the word intensity comes to mind.” You’re right, I’m intense. My boyfriend too, by the way. We are on the move, sometimes impulsive. I had a relatively quiet two months so … We didn’t have one or two: we bought a house and a new dog that keeps us very busy. A little intense like us, finally! (bursts of laughter) Our little Mirò died and, when the children left the family nest, we said to ourselves: “Let’s adopt another dog”. Jazz, our standard all-eating poodle, is wonderful! But uff! he keeps us busy! ” For 13 years Maude has shared her life with Christian, her confidant, the one who guesses and accompanies her in all her projects. “He is a wonderful man! I would like to be engaged to him forever. I am a rather discreet woman and, in any case, there is no need to talk to him. He knows me by heart. We know each other by heart. We care for each other with love and respect. With him, our families, our new home, our respective projects, yes, things are moving a lot. But it is our balance and it is a great wealth! A life of love, kindness, plans and joy! ”

It is with these inspirational words that I let Maude go. A big day of shooting awaits him the next day. We hug each other tightly and promise to meet again before two years.
