The large difference between the 2022 consumer and producer price indices published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the data published by the Inflation Research Group (ENAG) is becoming more and more surprising with each passing month.

Although many issues such as the decrease in the minimum wage increase at the beginning of the year in the face of inflation, the fact that the amount of the minimum wage increased with the interim increase remained below the hunger limit and the difference in the data, sparked discussion, the fact that TurkStat stopped publishing the item cart data prevents data comparison.

INFLATION DATA FOR JANUARY

According to TUIK data, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 11.10% monthly in January, while the CPI rose 15.52% in January according to ENAG data.

According to TURKSTAT, the annual inflation rate, which was 36.08% in December 2021, increased to 48.69% in January 2022.

ENAG, on the other hand, announced annual inflation of 114.87% in January 2022, which is well above the TUIK. According to ENAG data, the annual inflation rate in December was 82.81 percent.

WHEN WILL THE JUNE DATA BE DISCLOSED?

Inflation figures for each month will be released on the 3rd of the following month, while June figures will be released on July 4th, as July 3rd coincides with a Monday.
